Hull, Iowa– A semi’s grain trailer was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, near Hull.
According to Hull Fire Chief Greg Van Roekel, about 1:35 p.m., the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a semi-trailer on fire on Highway 18 just west of the north junction with Highway 75, west of Hull.
The chief says the fire department saw the trailer’s tires on fire as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.
Van Roekel says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire appeared to have been a wheel bearing that went out.
Chief Van Roekel reports that the trailer was probably totaled in the blaze.
He says they used about six to eight hundred gallons of water to fight the fire, and the 15 to 17 firefighters who responded were on scene for about a half an hour.
