UPDATE: Sheldon Emergency Crews Respond To Accident Near Ritter

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sunday traffic crash north of Sheldon on Highway 60 sent a Sibley woman to the hospital.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says the mishap took place shortly after 12:30 yesterday (Sunday) afternoon at the intersection of Highway 60, and Northwest Boulevard.  According to authorities, a 2013 Honda Pilot SUV, driven by 38-year old Alysia Haveman of Hull, was northbound on Northwest Boulevard, and negotiated the curve to join up with Highway 60.  Deputies say Haveman failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Northwest Boulevard and the southbound lanes of Highway 60.

Deputies say that a 2003 Mercury Moutaineer SUV, driven by 22-year old Thressa Clark of Sibley, was southbound on Highway 60, and struck Havaeman’s vehicle, before going through the intersection and striking a stop sign.

According to authorities, Haveman was ticketed for Failure To Obey Stop Sign and Yield Right of Way.

Clark was transported to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by SCAT, with what the accident report describes as “minor injuries.”

Damage to Haveman’s Honda was estimated at $18-thousand, with estimated damage to Clark’s Mercury amounting to $5500.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, Sheldon Fire Company, and Sheldon Emergency Management Agency.

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon emergency crews responded to an accident near Ritter on Sunday afternoon.

On-scene reports indicate that it was a two-vehicle accident that occured about 12:35 p.m. at the intersection of southbound Highway 60 and Northwest Boulevard, north of Ritter. The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team took one person to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Responding agencies included the Sheldon Fire Department, SCAT, Sheldon EMA, the Sheldon Police Department, and the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.
