Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man has been arrested on assault charges after an incident in town.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 39-year-old Juan Esquibel of Sheldon is accused of assaulting a victim. He was arrested on Wednesday, July 12th.
In his statement, the officer states that this is the third time Esquibel has been arrested for assault, making this offense a felony.
Esquibel was charged with domestic abuse assault, 3rd or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, Esquibel could face up to five years in prison.
He faces a preliminary hearing on the charge on Friday, July 21.
At last report, he remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of a $5000 cash or surety bond.
