Sheldon Resident Injured In Boyden Crash

Boyden, Iowa — A Sheldon woman was transported to the hospital in the aftermath of a single-vehicle accident near Boyden early Friday morning.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Fernanda Gonzalez, of Sheldon was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion westbound on Highway 18 and attempted to pass another westbound vehicle. Deputies say in the process of passing she met an eastbound vehicle and drove into the south ditch to avoid striking it.

Gonzalez was transported by the Boyden Ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Gonzalez was reportedly cited for unsafe passing.

Deputies estimate the damage to Gonzalez car at approximately $4,000.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Boyden Fire Department and Boyden Ambulance.
