Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon teen struck a sign at the intersection of Country Club Road and East 6th Street in Sheldon on Wednesday, November 30th.
The Sheldon Police Department reports that at about 8:26 am on Wednesday, 16-year-old Audrey Groot reported to her mother that she slid into a signpost on her way to school, then continued to school, where later, Sheldon Police located the vehicle. The report continues that based on the tracks, Groot was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on Country Club Road in Sheldon. The report further states that Groot attempted to turn onto East 6th Street, and due to the icy roads, Groot slid onto the curb, over a landscaping rock and into a sign post.
The Pontiac received $2,200 damage; the wooden post received $50 damage.
No injuries were reported.
