Hawarden, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the public’s help to try to solve a hit-and-run collision case.
Sheriff’s officials say that on Thursday, October 4th, they investigated a hit‐and‐run motor vehicle collision that occurred on 460th Street, two miles east of Hawarden. They say that 18-year-old Kory Van Oort of Ireton was driving a 2010 Mercedes eastbound on 460th Street, which is a gravel road a mile south of Highway 10.
According to the sheriff’s office, Van Oort reported that a vehicle traveling westbound entered the eastbound lane and sideswiped the Mercedes. The striking vehicle did not stop after the accident and was not located. No injuries were reported.
The westbound vehicle is believed to have been a white crossover with possible damage on its driver’s side. Deputies say the Mercedes sustained about $1,400 in damage.
