Sioux Center Home Damaged In Chimney Fire

Sioux Center, Iowa — A house was damaged in a fire on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in Sioux Center.

According to Sioux Center Fire Chief David Van Holland, at a few minutes after 6:00 a.m., the Sioux Center Fire Department was called to the report of a chimney fire at 429 12th Avenue Circle Northeast, southeast of the Dordt University campus.

The chief says the fire department saw smoke coming from the house as they approached the scene.

Van Holland says no injuries were reported.

The fire department was assisted by Ireton firefighters as per their auto aid agreement.

He says the cause of the fire appeared to be buildup in the chimney.

Chief Van Holland reports that there was moderate damage due to smoke in the home.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour and a half.
