Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center man has been arrested on felony drug and firearms charges.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sioux Center Police Department, 30-year-old Gerardo Ramos of Sioux Center is accused of the dominion or control of a firearm by someone who has been convicted of domestic violence or who is subject to a protective order, possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun, possession of meth, and keeping property where controlled substances are used. He was arrested last week.
In his statement, the officer states that the alleged offenses were discovered during the execution of a search warrant.
Ramos was charged with three felony charges — dominion or control of a firearm, and possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun, both class D felonies, and a class B felony-level count of possession of a controlled substance. If convicted of the class B felony, Ramos could face up to 25 years in prison. On either class D felony count, Ramos could face up to five years in prison. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of meth and keeping property where controlled substances are used.
Ramos faces arraignment on the charges on Monday.
At last report, Ramos remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $5000 cash or surety bond.
