Sutherland Man Taken To Hospital After Truck Rolls Near Calumet

Calumet, Iowa — A Sutherland man was taken to the hospital after an accident near Calumet on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:50 a.m., 53-year-old Scott Waggoner of Sutherland was driving a 2018 Western Star feed truck southbound on Highway 59, about two miles south of Calumet, and a half-mile north of the Cherokee County Line.

The report says that the truck was hauling hog feed. It says the driver began turning into the driveway of a hog confinement. As the truck was entering the private property, the driver lost control of the truck, which caused the truck to turn over onto the driver’s side. The report says the driver was trapped inside of the truck and sustained minor injuries to his leg and head.

The Sutherland Ambulance took Waggoner to Cherokee Regional Medical Center Hospital.

The Western Star truck sustained about $15,000 in damages.
