Three Taken To Hospital After Sioux Center Crash; Authorities Seek Witnesses

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Hull woman and two of her passengers were taken to the hospital after an accident near Carmel on Wednesday morning.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 8:30 a.m., 19-year-old Julia Niz‐Niz of Hull was driving a 2008 Saturn Vue southbound on Highway 75, two miles north of Sioux Center at the Carmel blacktop, or 360th Street.

The report says she stopped for a southbound semi‐truck and trailer ahead of her making a right turn onto 360th Street. They tell us 60-year-old Clifford Kruger of George was driving a 2007 Peterbilt semi‐truck pulling a feed trailer southbound behind Niz‐Niz when he struck the Saturn in the southbound lane.

The Sioux Center Ambulance Squad took Niz‐Niz and two passengers to the Sioux Center Health Hospital. Their injuries were described as “minor.”

The Saturn sustained about $8,000 in damage. The Peterbilt sustained about $5,000 in damage.

Niz‐Niz was cited on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

The accident remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who witnessed this accident to contact the sheriff’s office.
