Two Taken To Hospital When Car Hits UPS Truck Parked On Roadway

Sioux Center, Iowa– A Sioux City man and a Doon woman were taken to the hospital after an accident near Sioux Center on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 12:15 p.m., 36-year-old Aaron Tweet of Sioux City was driving a 2011 UPS delivery truck. He had parked the truck facing eastbound, on the south side of the eastbound lane of 370th Street a mile north of the Pella plant corner in Sioux Center. They tell us that 73-year-old Donna Fedders of Doon was eastbound on 370th in a 2018 GMC SUV.

The report says that the UPS driver was in the rear of the truck getting a package to deliver to a residence. Fedders realized the UPS truck was parked and hit the brakes, but was not able to stop and hit the rear of the UPS truck.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took both Tweet and Fedders to Sioux Center Health Hospital.

The UPS delivery truck sustained $5000 in damages, and Fedders’ GMC SUV sustained $8000 in damages.

Fedders was charged with failure to stop in assured clear distance.
