Woman In Sioux County Jail Charged With Additional Felony

Sioux Center, Iowa — A woman who was arrested on July 9th in Sioux Center and was accused of driving drunk for the third time and spitting on two Sioux Center Police officers, now faces an additional felony charge.

Sioux Center Police Chief Mike Halma says 41-year-old Jewelia Drapeau now faces third-offense drug possession charges. He says after the arrest, officers obtained a search warrant for the vehicle Drapeau was driving. He says they found a white substance in a baggie in a wallet that was found, and that the substance tested positive for fentanyl. He says they located needles as well.

Officers didn’t need to obtain a warrant for her arrest, says Halma, because she was still in custody in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City.

While court documents list Drapeau’s address as being in Sioux City, the Sioux Center Police arrest log shows her as being from Sioux Falls, SD.
