Sibley, Iowa — The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has just released an accident report for an accident near Sibley that sent five people to a hospital recently.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that in the early morning hours, 25-year-old Jose Lopez Flores of Brewster, MN was driving a 2002 Chrysler minivan southbound on Highway 60, about a mile into Iowa.
The report says that the road conditions were icy and slick. It says it appears the driver lost control and the minivan veered off the road, traveling through the center median ditch, rolled, and landed on the driver’s side. The vehicle slid along its side and eventually came to a stop, partially blocking the northbound lane of Highway 60.
The Sibley Ambulances took Lopez Flores and four passengers, 35-year-old Marlene Guajardo, 31-year-old Marcos Martinez, 40-year-old Rudy Martinez, and 21-year-old Fernando Zaragoza to Osceola Regional Health Center Hospital.
Lopez Flores’s Chrysler minivan was totaled in the accident.
Lopez Flores was charged with no driver’s license and failure to maintain control.
The Sibley Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
