Ireton Firefighters Extinguish Brush Fire

Ireton, Iowa — The Ireton Fire Department was called out for a fire on Monday, August 17, 2020 near Ireton.

According to Ireton Fire Chief Richard Steckelberg, in the 4 p.m. hour, the Ireton Fire Department was called to the report of a brush pile fire out of hand at 4261 Dove Avenue, a mile north, a mile west and two and a half more north of Ireton.

The chief says the fire department used water from hand lines on their brush truck to fight the fire.

Steckelberg says no injuries were reported, and the damage was limited to some grass. But they did have to take one person to the hospital who got too much smoke.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour.
