George Man Faces Felony Criminal Sexual Conduct Charges In Minnesota

George, Iowa — A George man has been arrested and is accused of sex acts with an underage boy in Pipestone, Minnesota seven years ago.

According to court documents obtained from Pipestone County Attorney Damain Sandy, 34-year-old Desmond Hicks of George is charged with one count each of first and second-degree Criminal Sexual Conduct With A Person Under The Age Of 13. Both offenses are felonies.

Court documents allege that a 19-year-old man is accusing Hicks of sexual activity with him — the victim — in the summer between the victim’s sixth and seventh-grade years and while the victim was in seventh grade in 2013, when the victim was 12 years of age.

The victim says that while he was in foster care, his foster mother was dating Hicks, and they occasionally visited him in Pipestone, which is when the abuse is alleged to have occurred, when the foster mother was alleged to have been asleep.

When questioned after his arrest, Hicks stated he had believed the sexual activity was consensual, and that he thought the victim was 13 or 14 years old.

The court records say Hicks is about 15 and-a-half years older than the victim.

According to Pipestone County Jail records, Hicks remains in custody in the Pipestone County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. His next court date is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1st with Judge Terry Vajgrt.
