Boyden, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of foreign objects being found in Halloween candy distributed in the Boyden area.

Sheriff Jamie Van Voorst told reporters Monday that his office had received one report and that the investigation remains active.

The report comes after Halloween candy was distributed Saturday evening. Authorities say the source of the candy has not been identified.

In a public post, the sheriff’s office said the reported objects included screws, tacks, and nuts. Officials noted the candy packages appeared to be factory sealed and that no injuries have been reported.

The sheriff’s office is urging parents to carefully inspect Halloween candy before allowing children to eat it.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office at 712-737-2280.
