Two Injured In Crash North Of Alton

Alton, Iowa — Two people were taken to the hospital as the result of a two-vehicle collision north of Alton early Saturday evening.

Authorities say the crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 60 and Kingbird Avenue shortly before 6:00 Saturday evening. According to the crash report, a 2016 Honda Civic, driven by 34-year-old Erick Beltran, of Sioux Center, was southbound on Kingbird Avenue, and allegedly failed to yield from the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 60, colliding with a 2010 Chrysler Sebring, driven by 51-year-old Derik Lampe, of Le Mars, who was westbound on Highway 60.

Two passengers in Beltran’s Honda were transported by ambulance services from Orange City and Alton to the Orange City Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The Honda sustained approximately $8,000 in damage. The Chrysler sustained an estimated $12,000 in damage.

Beltran was reportedly cited for failing to yield from a stop sign.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Alton Ambulance, Alton Fire Department, Orange City Ambulance and the Orange City Police Department.
