1-2 Inches Of Rain Expected Over The Next Few Days

Northwest Iowa — After a string of several warm and dry days, a slow moving storm system will bring a cooler and wetter period through midweek.

The most widespread potential for moderate to heavy rainfall is expected tonight, when scattered thunderstorms are also more likely. A few strong to severe storms will be possible tonight, mainly southeast of a line from Yankton to Windom. Occasional light rain and a few thunderstorms will continue Wednesday into Thursday, with total rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches or more across much of southeast South Dakota, southern Minnesota and northwest Iowa over the 3-day period.

Scattered thunderstorms will move across southeast parts of the region tonight. A few of these storms could become strong to severe, bringing a threat of quarter sized hail and wind gusts to 60 mph.
