16 New COVID Cases Reported In Our Area Sunday

Northwest Iowa — Sixteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four-county area of O’Brien, Osceola, Lyon and Sioux Counties Sunday, with one of the counties reporting no new cases.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, new cases were reported in Sioux County, where six new cases brought their total number to 4,276 since the pandemic began, six new cases in O’Brien County bring that county’s total to 1,574, Lyon County added four new cases which brought their total number to 1,225, while Osceola County held steady at 606 cases since the pandemic began.

There have been 122 COVID-related deaths of northwest Iowans since the pandemic began. Osceola County has had seven deaths. Lyon County’s death toll is 24, Sioux’s is 41, and O’Brien’s is 50.

Of the 1,225 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1037 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 85%.
Of the 4,276 Sioux County residents to test positive, 3756 have recovered, for a rate of about 88%.
Of the 1,574 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive, 1322 have recovered, for a rate of about 84%.
Of the 606 Osceola County residents who tested positive for COVID-19, 529 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 87%.
