2019 Coats for Kids Huge Success

Sheldon, Iowa — The annual Sheldon Coats for Kids Drive came to a conclusion this past weekend when the items collected were distributed to those in need.

The Sheldon Ministerial Association, in conjunction with Bubbles Laundry and Dry Cleaning, sponsor the Coats for Kids Drive each year, and according to the Ministerial Association, the distribution went quite well. 216 coats were donated, and they distributed 162 of them Saturday (November 2nd).

The 54 remaining coats, as well as the hats and gloves collected were donated to the Village Treasure Chest. The remaining snow pants will be donated to Sheldon’s East Elementary School.

Organizers of Coats for Kids say they were surprised that there were more adult coats this year than in previous years.

Coats for Kids is an annual event designed to help provide warm winter attire to those kids in the community who might otherwise not have a winter coat. Organizers extend a huge “thank you” to all those who donated to this year’s event.
