Sheldon, Iowa — The 2023 State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa (SSTFI) took place at the Hilton Coliseum on the Iowa State University Campus from March 25th (Thursday) through the 26th (Friday).
Jim Gude, Sheldon Middle School’s 8th grade Science teacher, tells us six 8th graders and one high school student went to SSTFI this year. He tells what awards and certificates each student received:
Carlie Visser, a Senior at Sheldon High School, received Honorable Mention for the High School Environmental Division and she also received the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-Taking Care of the Planet Award.
Logan Brown received second place in the 8th-grade Engineering Division. He also received Iowa State University’s Center for Nondestructive Evaluation.
Hayden McHugh received the Raygun Innovative Scientist Award.
Tamsyn Matus and Rania Vargas received a Participation Certificate.
Addisson Dobbins and Alexis Dykstra received a Participation Certificate.
