City Council To Address Nuisance Property At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets this week in regular session, one of the topics on their agenda includes a nuisance abatement issue.

Specifically, the issue centers on a property at 511 6th Avenue. According to City officials, there have been ongoing nuisance issues at that address. City officials say a notice was sent to the property owner, per City Code,  and a separate notice was posted on the door of the residence.  On July 31st of this year, the City hired a contractor to clean up the property. On this week’s Council agenda, a public hearing and discussion of the issue are included.

In other action, the Council is expected to approve a 28-E agreement with the Sheldon Community School District, which allows for a Sheldon police officer to serve as a School Resource Officer in the District’s schools.

The Council is also expected to discuss a request by Bethel Reformed Church for a temporary street closure to facilitate grass seed establishment on the lot that formerly housed Bethel Church.

This week’s meeting of the Sheldon City Council will be called to order at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon in Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center.  If you can’t attend in-person, you can view the meeting via YouTube Live.
