48 New Positive COVID Tests Reported Saturday

Northwest Iowa — Forty-eight new positive test results for COVID-19 were reported Saturday in our four-county area, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

O’Brien County added twenty-nine cases, increasing their total to 1529 cases since the pandemic started. Sioux County was up 12 cases at 4178. Osceola County reported no new cases, and remain at a total of 599. Lyon County had seven new cases on Saturday for a total of 1185.

There have been 114 COVID-related deaths of northwest Iowans since the pandemic began. Osceola County has had five deaths. Lyon County’s death toll is 21, Sioux’s is 40, and O’Brien’s is 48.

Recovery rates continue to increase:
Out of the 1,185 Lyon County residents who tested positive for COVID-19, 946 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 80%.
Of the 4,178 Sioux County residents to test positive, 3,572 have recovered, for a rate of about 85%.
Of the 1,529 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive, 1,225 have recovered, for a rate of about 80%.
Of the 599 Osceola County residents to test positive for COVID-19, 492 have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 82%.
