Northwest Iowa — The Adopt-A-Family and Santa-For-Seniors programs from O’Brien and Osceola counties are completed, with everyone on the list adopted for 2020.
Each year the UDMO office in O’Brien and Osceola counties puts out a list folks in their counties who need a little help from their neighbors to have a little bit brighter holidays. The lists contain information about each member of these families, or each senior citizen on the list, including what their wish is for a Christmas gift. And this year, as they do every year, the residents of O’Brien and Osceola counties stepped up and answered the call.
O’Brien County UDMO’s Brenda Collier says the gifts will be distributed this week.
(As above) “Everyone has been adopted and this is actually our week of getting the gifts out. We call it ‘Christmas Week in O’Brien County.'”
Collier talks about the number of O’Brien County families and senior citizens who will have a happier holiday thanks to the generosity of those who adopted them.
(As above) “…..seventy families and twenty-three seniors.”
Osceola County UDMO’s Adopt-A-Family and Santa-For-Seniors project for 2020 was a huge success, as well, with all those on the lists adopted. Wendy Pierce of Osceola County UDMO tells us about the numbers in that county.
(As above) “I had thirty-eight Adopt-A-Families and six seniors.”
Gifts will be distributed to the families and seniors in both counties this week.
Both Collier and Pierce expressed their thanks to those who adopted the families and seniors in O’Brien and Osceola counties this year.
