“Always Patsy Cline” Comes To Off Off Broadway Stage

patsy-clineAshton, Iowa — Off Off Broadway’s latest dinner theatre production will open this Thursday evening at the American Legion Community Center in Ashton.

The production of “Always Patsy Cline” is more than a tribute to the legendary singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story about Cline’s friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in 1961 and continued  correspondence with Cline until her death.

The show’s producer, Brad Vander Pol, along with Tricia Meendering, the actress who will portray the country music legend, appeared on the KIWA Morning Show Monday to talk about the show.  Vander Pol talked about how this particular show was selected to be brought to the Off Off Broadway stage.

Vander Pol said before the final selection of “Always Patsy Cline”, he felt it important to get commitments from the two people he envisioned playing the leads in the production.

Tricia Meendering will take the stage as country music legend Patsy Cline, a role that she described as giving her goosebumps.

Vander Pol and Meendering talked about how, despite the play being a tribute to Cline, it’s not the story of her life.

In addition to Meendering as Patsy Cline, the Off Off Broadway production of “Always Patsy Cline” will feature Lissa Lane-Johnson playing Louise Seger, the fan with whom Cline corresponded the last few years of her life.  It will also feature a live band.

Vander Pol talks about how to get tickets for the Off Off Broadway dinner theatre production of “Always Patsy Cline.”

Tickets are $26 per person, and include dinner and the show.  Dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 each evening, with a curtain time of 8:00 pm.  If you missed the phone number for tickets, it is 712-754-3540.

Off Off Broadway’s dinner theatre production of “Always Patsy Cline will open Thursday, November 17th, and run each evening through Sunday, November 20th.
