Archer United Methodist “Lord’s Acre Day” Is Saturday

Archer, Iowa — A tradition that has been going on for many, many years continues with the 2021 installment in Archer on Saturday, November 6th.

Known as “Lord’s Acre Day,” the celebration started when farmers who were members of the Archer United Methodist Church decided to give one acre’s worth of their crop at harvest time to the church.

Pastor Jacob Sandholm tells us the meaning behind the celebration.

He tells us what the day will consist of.

Pastor Sandholm tells us that offerings and donations from farmers are still a part of the Lord’s Acre celebration, but nowadays it usually takes the form of giving a load of grain to the church by informing the clerk at the grain elevator that you want the payment for the load you’re bringing in to be added to the church’s account instead of your own.
