Ashton Woman Loses Control, Lands In Hospital

Sheldon, Iowa– An Ashton woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Sheldon on Saturday, February 17, 2018.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 7:30 a.m., 66-year-old Sharon Kohn of Ashton was driving a 2000 Ford SUV southbound on Northwest Boulevard, about a third of a mile north of 300th Street, near the Sheldon Airport, or two and a quarter miles northeast of Sheldon.

The report says that Kohn went to the right side of the pavement, and lost control by over-correcting. The SUV spun out, crossing the northbound lane and rolled several times, landing in the east ditch.

The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team took Kohn to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Kohn’s Ford SUV sustained an estimated $5000 in damages, which was enough to total the vehicle.

The Sheldon Fire Company and Sheldon Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
