Sheldon, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the discovery of a dead body that was found near the Floyd River, west of Sheldon. According to authorities, the body has been identified as Cory Allen Wright of Sheldon.
The Sheriff’s Office is now specifically seeking information from anyone who may have had communication with Wright on or after October 10, 2018 either in‐person, by phone, text, or social media.

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the body found near NCC on March 26th.
Authorities say the body was that of 27-year old Cory Allen Wright, with a last known address of Sheldon.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, The Iowa State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the body on Thursday, March 28th at the State Crime Lab in Ankeny. According to the State Medical Examiner, the cause of death is yet to be determined.
On Wednesday, April 3rd, the Iowa State Medical Examiner was able to confirm the identity of the deceased body, through the use of a fingerprint, according to authorities. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office has further confirmed the identity of the body by matching the tattoos with arrest records.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.

Sheldon, Iowa — Sioux County authorities say the O’Brien County Communications Center received a call Tuesday morning around 10:10 am from a person who believed there was a dead body on the shore of the Floyd River; near the southeast edge of the Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.
Authorities say a Sheldon Police Officer was dispatched to the scene. The officer then contacted the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, since the location of the incident was in the jurisdiction of the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
Sioux County authorities say an investigation was subsequently initiated by the sheriff’s office.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the body was located along the shore of the Floyd River, near the very southeastern portion of the college campus. Deputies say it appeared that the body had been underwater. Sioux County authorities say they believe the body to be that of an unidentified male in his 30’s or 40’s.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the body will be transported to the Iowa State Crime Lab in Ankeny for an autopsy.
Authorities say they don’t believe there is any immediate danger to area residents at this time.
Sioux County authorities say more information will be available as the investigation continues.

Sheldon, Iowa — The body of a deceased individual was found n the Floyd River near the southeastern part of the Northwest Iowa Community College campus Tuesday morning.
According to a college spokesman, at approximately 10:30 Tuesday morning a deceased individual was located in the Floyd River near the southeast edge of the NCC campus in Sheldon.
According to the NCC spokesman law enforcement authorities from the Sheldon Police Department and Sioux County Sheriff’s Office were immediately contacted, and an investigation is underway.
