Community Meetings Scheduled For Input On Proposed Crossroads Park

Sheldon, Iowa — Part of the Master Plan for development of the area around the Crossroads Pavilion Event Center has been a park area. The Sheldon City Council recently said they wanted community input as to what would make up the proposed park, and said there would be a series of community meetings to get input from the Sheldon community.

Sheldon Mayor Katricia Meendering says the public’s involvement in the project will begin next week.

Mayor Meendering describes the location under discussion.

She says Thursday’s meeting will be the first in a series of meetings to allow the community to be involved in the planning process.

Thursday’s meeting will begin with a community open house from 1:00 to 3:00 Thursday afternoon at the Community Services Center. Meendering explains the purpose of the open house.

Thursday evening, the Mayor tells KIWA there will be a community workshop from 6:00 to 7:00, also to be held at the Sheldon Community Services Center in downtown Sheldon. Mayor Meendering stressed that the City wants input from Sheldon residents into what they’d like to see in the new community park.
