Convicted Sibley Child Molester Could Face Decades Behind Bars

Sibley, Iowa — A Sibley man has been convicted of child sexual abuse and could face a prison term of over 75 years.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Osceola County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 33-year-old Mitchel Duskin of Sibley was accused of sexually abusing an underage family member or members as young as 10 years of age on multiple occasions from 2018 to 2021. He was arrested in May of 2022.

Duskin was convicted earlier this month in a jury trial of three counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of third-degree sexual abuse. The second-degree counts are class B felonies, and the third-degree count is a class C felony. Duskin faces up to 25 years in prison on each class B count and up to 10 years in prison on the class C felony count.

Sentencing is set to take place on May 17, 2024.
