Council Expected To Approve Payoff Of Crossroads Pavilion At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council holds their regular meeting Wednesday afternoon, they’re expected to approve the payoff of the debt on the Crossroads Pavilion Event Center.

The original amount of the notes for building the facility in 2016 was $3.4 million dollars, and the remaining amount is just under $2.5 million. The note on the facility would be paid off using saved funds.

In other action, the Council will hold a Public Hearing on the sale of the former Rec Bowl property to John Van Gorp of Sheldon Power & Equipment, at a cost of $38,000. The Council is also scheduled to hear an update on the Garbage and Recycling Contracts.

The Council is also expected to be updated on the City’s redistricting. Redistricting is done every ten years in order to equalize the City’s Council Wards according to population shifts reflected in the latest census.

Wednesday’s Sheldon City Council Meeting will begin at 4:30 in Council Chambers, on the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center. You may attend in-person, or you may watch the meeting via YouTube Live. The City says are working to resolve their sound issues so that interactive Zoom participation may resume. Until then, they say, public comments will need to be provided in person or in writing.
