Council To Take Action On Police Chief Appointment

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session this Wednesday, March 4th, with two public hearings on the agenda.  The first will be on contracts for deed of both the former Sunset Motel property and the property at 1023 Garfield Avenue.  The council has accepted the offer submitted by Kerwin and Kathy Sterler for the redevelopment of both properties.

The second public hearing will be on the Fiscal Year 20-21 budget.  The proposed budget includes a modest drop in the tax levy of 45 cents per thousand and will show a slight increase in the amount of the property tax revenue.

The council will also hear a presentation by representatives of the Winther and Stave firm on the Fiscal Year 18-20 audit. And they will act on the Mayor’s appointment of Scott Burtch as Chief of Police.  The final item on the agenda will be a possible closed session to consider labor negotiations and employment conditions.

Wednesday’s Council meeting begins at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
