Don’t Forget To Spend Your Merry Money By Christmas Eve

Sheldon, Iowa — Most area chambers of commerce have special deals to help people shop for Christmas in their communities. In Sheldon, your time to use what they call “Merry Money” is quickly drawing to a close.

Sheldon Chamber Director Ashley Nordahl says Merry Money is sold on Election Day and people have until Christmas Eve to use it. This year, the entire $125,000 of Merry Money sold out in just two and a half hours.

Nordahl reminds us how Merry Money works.

She says it’s just like saving ten percent on all your holiday purchases — or other purchases for that matter, as long as you make those purchases by Christmas Eve, December 24th. Some merchants have restrictions on how your Merry Money can be used at their business.

She says the SCDC and the Sheldon Marketing Committee cover five percent and the participating businesses take a five percent discount on their sales, making up the ten percent that people can save.

There are 37 different Sheldon businesses that are taking part in the Merry Money program this year. Again, the last day to use your Merry Money is this Saturday — Christmas Eve Day — December 24th. Just to emphasize — Merry Money DOES expire. If you are still holding onto it after it expires, you will be out that much money. And nobody wants that to happen. So don’t forget to spend it somehow by Christmas Eve.
