O’Brien County, Iowa — O’Brien County’s Emergency Medical Service Advisory Committee held their first meeting last week, and County Emergency Management Coordinator Jared Johnson says he was very pleased with the turnout for that meeting.
Johnson says volunteerism was a major topic of conversation at last week’s meeting.
We asked him where the committee goes from here.
Johnson tells KIWA that, while the EMS volunteer situation is a problem, there’s an even bigger potential problem coming later this week.
He talks about what steps can be taken now to prepare for the potential flooding.
The forecast for northwest Iowa calls for a 40% chance of precipitation Tuesday, increasing to 70% by Tuesday night, and reaching 90% Wednesday and Wednesday night. Temperatures are expected to remain warm enough for all of this precipitation to fall in the form of rain.
