Northwest Iowa — A trio of area teens have been nominated by U.S. Senator Joni Ernst to be considered for admission to the U.S. Service Academies.
According to a release from Senator Ernst’s office, she has nominated Jack Van Voort of Orange City to be considered for admission into the U.S. Air Force Academy, Patricia King of Sioux Center to be considered for admission into the U.S Military Academy at West Point, and Connor Ascherl of Granville, who Ernst nominated to be considered for admission to the U.S. Naval Academy.
The three students from our area join 29 other students from across the state to be nominated by Senator Ernst. Each year Ernst, along with Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, nominate students to the service academies.
