Experience The Vastness Of The Solar System Thursday At Prairie Heritage Center

O’Brien County, Iowa — Since reopening after being forced to close by the COVID-19 pandemic, The O’Brien County Conservation Board’s Prairie Heritage Center has begun holding one outdoor program each week. This week, the program is entitled, “How Big? How Far?.”

O’Brien County Naturalist Charlene Elyea explains the program.

(As above) “We’re going to talk about the solar system, and think about how big the planets are, how far they are from each other. This is a really fun one to do on the trail.”

Elyea says you should be prepared to do some walking when you come to “How Big? How Far?”

(As above) “There’s a little over half mile walking because we have to go all the way out to the Neptune so you have to walk a little ways to get there. But it’s a fun activity and and kind of gets a little perspective of our solar system.”

Elyea will be on site to welcome you and give your group some introduction and instructions. You may come at any time from 4:00 until 6:30 pm Thursday June 18th, and your group must not include more than 10 people. Your group will be distanced from other groups on the trail.

The Prairie Heritage Center is located at 4931 Yellow Avenue, between Sutherland and Peterson just off Highway 10.
