FAA: Help Spread The Word On Drone Safety

Washington, DC — This is the first ever National Drone Safety Awareness Week, Nov. 4-10, 2019.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is encouraging the drone community to help spread the word on drone safety. The FAA says their highest priority is to ensure the safety of the National Airspace System, and during National Drone Safety Awareness Week, the FAA reminds drone pilots and stakeholders that airspace safety is everyone’s responsibility.

During this weeklong campaign, FAA officials tell us that key sectors of the drone community – local governments, municipalities and recreational flyers – are highlighting their work on drones, engaging the public in activities related to drones, and kicking off new safety initiatives. The FAA says they want to do all that they can to ensure that these new operators are familiar with and adhere to the safety culture. During National Drone Safety Awareness Week, the FAA is providing leadership and support with downloadable materials from the FAA website.

The FAA is focusing on six segments, including Public Safety and Security; Business – Photography, Real Estate, Insurance; Infrastructure and Agriculture; Business – Commercial and Medical Package Delivery; Education and STEM; and Recreational Flyers.
