Fireworks Cause Grass Fire

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Firefighters responded to the report of a grass fire at Nest Avenue and 350th Street shortly before 10:00 Tuesday evening.

Assistant Sheldon Cire Chief Randy Harms says the grass fire was ignited by fireworks being used near a bridge at that location.

Harms says approximately 1,000 gallons of water was used to extinguish the blaze, and firefighters were on scene for about 20 minutes.
