Responding fire departments were able to extinguish the fire and kept it contained to the machine shed. One person sustained minor burns while attempting to remove equipment from the burning shed. They were treated by emergency medical personnel at the location and released. The building and contents were termed a total loss.
The Hudson Fire Department was assisted by the Rock Valley Fire Department, Ireton Fire Department, Sioux Center Fire Department, Hudson Ambulance, Rock Valley Ambulance and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
Sioux County authorities say the fire is believed to be the result of a faulty engine heater plugged in on a pay loader inside the shed.
