Four COVID Deaths In Area In Past Seven Days

Northwest Iowa — Four area residents have lost their battle with COVID-19 in the past seven days, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Sioux County reports three additional deaths, taking their total to 74 since the pandemic began more than a year ago. Osceola County lost one resident to COVID within the past seven days, bringing their county total to 17. No deaths were reported in O’Brien County, where the total remains at 57, or in Lyon County, where the toll remains at 41 since the pandemic began.

Ten new positive COVID test results were reported in the past seven days in the four-county area, as well. Lyon County reports six new positives, up from zero the week before. Sioux County reported three new positive tests, down one from the previous week. O’Brien County reports one new positive, up from zero the previous week. Osceola County reports zero positives over the past week, the same as the previous week.

Three long-term care facilities in the state, none of which is here in northwest Iowa, reported COVID outbreaks as of early afternoon Monday. In Audubon County, the Friendship Home Association reports 14 cases. In Cerro Gordo County, Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center has 12 residents and staff with the virus. In Marshall County, the Iowa Veterans Home reports 8 cases of COVID, for a statewide total of 34 cases.
