Free Northwest Iowa Swine Production Seminar Is Thursday

hogs pigs behind hog wire -- from ISU extensionOkoboji, Iowa –- Swine producers in Northwest Iowa are invited to attend a free one-day swine production seminar on Thursday, March 23 in Okoboji. The program is sponsored by Hubbard Feeds, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach, University of Minnesota Extension and Elanco.

ISU Extension and Outreach swine specialist Dave Stender says the program is geared toward pork operation decision-makers including owners and managers.

Stender will assist with hosting the program which runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Arrowwood Resort Conference Center at 1405 Hwy 71 in Okoboji. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and lunch will be provided at noon.

He says that record pork production, new packing plants and the new administration will affect the business of swine production. He says if you are involved in making decisions on your farm, you’ll want to attend this program.

He tells us about the speakers.

He says the day will end with a question and answer session.

As he says, the program schedule is as follows:
· 9:30 a.m. – Registration and Welcome
· 10:00 a.m. – Prime Pork… Giving New Life to Windom! presented by Greg Strobel of Strobel Farms.
