Free Well Water Testing Available In O’Brien County

O’Brien County, Iowa — With the torrential rains and flooding that we’ve experienced here in northwest Iowa, there is concern about potential contamination of private wells.

O’Brien County Environmental Health Specialist Jon Hintz says the heavy rains and flooding have contributed to an ideal recipe for contamination of wells.

But he says the owners or tenants with private wells in O’Brien County can get their well water tested, free of charge, through a cooperative program with the University of Iowa.

Hintz says if you’d like to get your well tested, it’s as easy as making a phone call.

He says if your well water report does come back showing contamination, there are resources available to teach you how to make it suitable for drinking once again.

In case you missed it, the phone number to set up a time to get your well water tested is 712-957-0105.
