Free Women’s Self-Defense Class Coming To Sibley Library Postponed To March 28th

Sibley, Iowa — The Sibley Public Library will be hosting a class by the Women’s Self-Defense Initiative on Thursday, March 28th, at the Sibley Public Library.

According to the organization, one in four women will be the victim of domestic violence, one in five women will be the victim of sexual assault, and one in twelve women will be the victim of stalking. And even children and teenagers aren’t necessarily safe.

By attending Tuesday evening’s training you can learn how to defend yourself against a violent encounter. And, as Jessica Tierney, the Executive Director of the Women’s Self-Defense Initiative tells us, there is absolutely no charge for you to attend.

Tierney says that, while the the training is billed as “self-defense”, it covers much more.

Tuesday’s Women’s Self-Defense Initiative class will be held at the Sibley Public Library from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, and Tierney says no preregistration is required.
