Sheldon, Iowa — Earlier we told you that this week is homecoming week, or Days of Thunder, at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. The entire week has been leading up to Friday, which is, by far, the busiest day of events.
NCC Director of Marketing and Communications Kristin Kollbaum says the festivities will begin at 9:30 Friday morning, when the 18th vehicle will be given away as part of the Charitable Chariots Program. She says Friday morning they will present a refurbished 2003 Ford Explorer to one deserving family.
The day continues with a 10:00 am ribbon cutting on the college’s new Applied Technology Building.
Kollbaum says the Applied Technology Building was built in partnership with NCC and the private sector.
Also at 10:00 o’clock Friday morning, NCC’s longest serving employee, Sandy Bruns, will be recognized for her 40-years and counting at the college.
Kollbaum says Friday is Family Day at NCC.
She says one of the keynote events Friday is NCC’s “50 Acts of Community Service”.
She says all day Friday people are invited to view the contents of the College’s 25th Anniversary time capsule, which they buried in 1991, and recently unearthed.
Kollbaum says Days of Thunder will wrap up Saturday morning with the 5th Annual NCC/KIWA Thunder Road Race.
All of Friday’s events will be held in the new Applied Technology Building, while Saturday’s Thunder Road Race will start at the Lifelong Learning & Rec Center.
