George, Iowa– A house was damaged by smoke on Sunday morning in George.
According to George Fire Chief Bill Sprock, about 8:40 AM, the George Fire Department was called to the report of a house filled with smoke at 406 West Michigan Avenue.
The chief says the fire department saw the house filled with smoke as they approached the scene. He says firefighters made entry with airpacks and investigated the source of the smoke. Initial reports were of a pot that had boiled over on the stove. He says the firefighters made a search of the house to make sure that was the cause of the smoke. He says they vented the smoke with fans including external ventilation, then made a second sweep to make sure there was no fire.
Sprock says no injuries were reported.
Chief Sprock reports that there was some smoke damage, and that the top of the stove was likely damaged as well.
He says crews were on scene for about an hour.
