Sheldon, Iowa — A long-time Sheldon shoe store and shoe repair business is closing its doors this week.
Gordon Cramer of Gordon’s Redwing Shoes has decided to call it a career and retire. In doing so, Cramer has sold his entire inventory of Redwing shoes and boots to Carl’s footwear, which will now become the local dealer for Redwing.
Cramer tells us he’s been planning his retirement for a couple of years.
Joel Bousema of Carl’s Footwear says he bought only the Redwing portion of Gordon’s Shoes business, and will be packing the shoes and boots up and transferring them to the Carl’s store this Tuesday, February 25th.
Bousema says the decision to add the Redwing inventory has been a couple of years in the making.
Cramer tells us about his initial retirement plans.
Cramer says his shoe repair equipment was purchased by an individual in Sioux Center, and the building that has housed Gordon’s is currently for sale.
He extended a warm and hearty thank you to the customers who have been doing business with him for the past 35-years.
