Ground Broken On Sioux Center Habitat For Humanity House Friday

Sioux Center, Iowa — Habitat for Humanity broke ground on its latest home in Sioux Center on Friday. Several people were on-hand for the groundbreaking, including Sioux Center Mayor David Krahling, Habitat staff, and community members. Also present was Partner Family Nancy Martinez and her children.

Martinez was notified in December that her family had been chosen. She says she has lived in Sioux Center since high school. According to Martinez, owning a home gives her children room to grow and a place to create new memories. She says it also provides a safe environment.

New Siouxland Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Shayla Becker, says she’s impressed with how well partners in Sioux County work with the organization. Construction is scheduled to start in May, and the public is invited to help by volunteering, donating, or sponsoring a stud.
