Larchwood, Iowa — A gunshot incident that injured a rural Larchwood resident earlier this week near Larchwood appears to have been an accident, but authorities have not made a final determination.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 5 PM on Monday, September 21, 2015, they received a 911 call from someone at the home located at 1231 Beech Avenue in rural Larchwood. The caller advised that there was an accidental discharge from his shotgun and he had been shot in the lower part of his leg.
Larchwood Emergency Medical Service, Lyon County Ambulance, sheriff’s deputies and the Iowa State Patrol responded to the call.
At last report, the incident was believed to have been an accident, but deputies say it is still under investigation.
