Sheldon, Iowa — COVID vaccinations are continuing, with Iowa expecting to open up vaccinations to all citizens on Monday, April 5th and a Sheldon coffee shop is offering a reward to people who have been vaccinated.
Chris Nuckols, of Downtown Grounds in Sheldon, tells us more.
(As above) “We’re doing our part to help out and encourage people to get vaccinated. And so we are offering a free drink to anyone who brings in their card, who is fully vaccinated.”
Nuckols says the event for everyone who has already completed their COVID vaccinations is this weekend, Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm each day at Downtown Grounds. Beginning Monday, they’ll be changing the offer slightly.
(As above) “Moving forward, it’s going to be the day of their final vaccine, or the day afterwards. But we recognize there’s a lot of folks who are already vaccinated, and so this weekend if they want to come in and bring in their card we’ll set them up for a free drink.”
Nuckols says they’re calling Saturday and Sunday’s event their “Catch Up Period” because it allows those who have already been vaccinated to catch up and claim their free drink.
(As above) “The “Catch Up” is for…we don’t want to penalize everybody who’s already vaccinated, we want to reward them, as well. Because moving forward, you’ll only be eligible on the day you get your final vaccine, or the next day. So they’ll have to bring in their card. But folks that are already vaccinated can come in this weekend.”
Nuckols says the goal of this event is to encourage folks to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
(As above) “Our thought is that is that we hope it really encourages folks to get vaccinated. I know we’re not there yet on kids, but once we’re getting kids vaccinated it can just be one more thing to….hey, you know you can get your shot….it’s a way to encourage them. The other thing is, we’ve got a stand-up cutout that you can stand behind that shows you’re a superhero, doing your part to help out public health in northwest Iowa.”
The “Catch-Up” period for those who have gotten their COVID vaccine up to this point, can stop at Downtown Grounds Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 3 each day and show their Vaccination Card to get their free drink. Then, starting Monday, you can bring in your COVID Vaccine Card the day you get your final shot, or the next day, and claim your free drink at Downtown Grounds, located on 3rd Avenue in downtown Sheldon.
