Hindt To Be Appointed As Fire Chief

Sheldon, Iowa — During their regular meeting Wednesday afternoon, the Sheldon City Council approved the appointment of a new Fire Chief to replace retiring Chief Dennis Kruger.

City Manager Sam Kooiker says Brad Hindt will serve as Fire Chief.

Hindt currently serves as the Fire Department’s 1st Assistant Chief. Kooiker explains how the new 1st Assistant Chief will be selected.

He says Hindt’s official appointment and swearing in will be held during the December council meeting.

In other news from the City, a new member of the Sheldon Police Department, Officer Trent Morton, will join the department this coming Monday.

Morton will fill the slot vacated by the retirement of Sergeant Todd Wood earlier this fall. He comes to Sheldon from the Paullina Police Department. Morton would have become Sheldon’s eighth officer, but the resignation last week of Officer Shane Nellis means the Sheldon Police Department will again be one officer short of their full complement of eight sworn officers, including Chief Scott Burtch.
